Welcome to the most environmentally sound classroom in the world. We plan to learn about saving the world, then we will get out there and do it ! Our teacher is fabulous but we kids are just as awesome. Enjoy looking at what we post and put up on our blog.
In Term 1, Rimu Syndicate visited Pukenui Native Forest. We wanted to see what plants and animals grew naturally in our area. When Room 11 went to Pukenui forest, we saw lots of Native plants and some native birds.
Pukenui Forest
Last Wednesday Room 11 went to Pukenui Forest. When we got to Pukeniu Forest, Room 11 saw traps, also we saw two dead hedgehogs, also I almost forgot to tell you, Room 11 got brought to Pukenui Forest by car.
My group was looking at plants. Room 11 had lunch at Pukenui Forest. There were orange markers in the Forest to tell us where to go so we don't get lost.
Room 11 were taking photos of native plants. Pukenui Forest is full of so many native plants. We saw cow poo. Alyssa was stabbing the cow poo with a big stick.
"Ooh, gross Alyssa, yuck! Don't stand on that cow poo!"
I enjoyed going to Pukenui Forest.
"Ooh, gross! Dead possum! Don't touch the dead possum and don't stand on it."
We saw poison on the trees. We were looking for the weta box. We couldnt find it. I think it had been moved. There is a trap beside the dead hedgehogs.

Pukenui Forest
I saw the big, tall trees, green like a leaf, beside the rocky path.
I heard the splashing water beside me.
It was raining blue.
I felt the leaves falling on my head like raindrops up high in the sky.
I smelt the fresh air all around me.
I tasted my delicious sandwiches in my lunch box.

I saw the birds singing on the mahoe tree in the forest.
I heard the people clapping for me.
I felt like I was dreaming.
I smelt the flowers.
I smelt the grass.
I tasted the fresh air.

I saw A fantail flying through the sky.
I heard crunching leaves on the ground as I stepped on them.
I touched sharp, cutty grass as it sliced me walking through the forest.
I tasted the fresh air going in my mouth.
I smelt minty grass and stinky cow poo in the paddock.

I saw the wiggly korari growing into the sun.
I heard the whistling birds in the trees.
I felt the wind going across my face.
I smelt the wet grass waving beside the kauri tree.
I tasted my food, yum in my mouth.

I saw some big trees over the wall.
They must be a hundred metres tall.
The leaves are falling off the trees.
